‘Victoria and Abdul’ can soon be yours to own
I get to see a lot of films each year. Many of them blend together. Yet once in a while I see a film that is different from the rest. Victoria and Abdul is one of those films. It definitely surprised me in many ways. I was able to get a review copy and here is what I thought of it.

Abdul Karim arrives from India to participate in Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee. The young clerk is surprised to find favor with the queen herself. As Victoria questions the constrictions of her long-held position, the two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance that her household and inner circle try to destroy. As their friendship deepens, the queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes, joyfully reclaiming her humanity.

I really liked Victoria and Abdul. The tale is a simple one, but is full of emotions and feelings that are real and genuine. The chemistry between Judi Dench and Ali Fazal is one of the things that make this movie so good. It also isn’t always clear what is going to happen next. In ‘Judi and Ali’ we get a behind the scenes look into the making of the film, and hear a lot from these actors on what made this film special to them. On ‘The Look of Victoria and Abdul’ we learn more about the locations, costumes and sets that helped bring this world to life.
