Cara E. Kilgallen

Cara is a mother, a writer, an English professor, and an athlete who turns to sports and storytelling for solace and humor for healing. Her writing covers everything from figure skating and Freud to humor and higher education. She also writes about finding comfort on the tennis courts and gratitude while golfing. She has published creative nonfiction, personal essays, OP-EDS, and academic research in Brevity Blog, The Connecticut Post, The Jewish Literary Project, The Good Man Project, The Hill, Kveller, and Studies in American Naturalism. A professor in English, she has taught college courses in writing and literature for nearly two decades. Her research interests are in American literature, culture, and comedy; inspired by humor, Cara’s personal writings capture a childhood with OCD and the ways that this disorder remains her constant companion as she navigates middle-aged motherhood to a four-year old.
