MaryLisa DeDomenicis holds a BA in Humanities, writes for Rebelle Society, and works for Murphy Writing Seminars of Richard Stockton University. Her poem "Going to Silence" appeared in the anthology Women Write Resistance: Poets Resist Gender Violence (Hyacinth Girl Press) and was featured in the The Spoon River Poetry Review Blog for its use at Illinois State University by Emily Johnson in her Gender Studies Course to explore her strategy for teaching trauma and poetry in relation to one another. MaryLisa has a poem forthcoming in Rabbit Ears (NYQ Books), and was the 2010 recipient of the Toni Brown Memorial Scholarship award. Her chapbook, Almost All Red, won the Still Waters Press Poetry Chapbook Competition and she was nominated by Stephen Dunn for a Pushcart prize. In addition to facilitating workshops, she’s read for Stockton College’s Visiting Writer’s Series, her poems have been performed on stage (sponsored by NJSCA), published in books, a calendar, a broadside, and in various print journals and online publications. She is realizing her girlhood dream of writing near the ocean, and is surrounded by an amazing, loving, and encouraging writing community.
