Robert A. Bennett III, PhD is the Special Assistant to the Associate Provost in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Program Specialist in the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at The Ohio State University. A native of Decatur, Georgia, Bennett graduated with honors from Morehouse College in 2004 earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in History, where he was also a member of the football team. He earned his Master of Arts degree and Doctor of Philosophy in History from The Ohio State University. His research interests are sports history and Black business development. During his time at OSU, he has worked with the Todd A. Bell National Resource Center on the African American Male and Student Athlete Support Services Office (SASSO). Bennett seeks to develop the best ways to improve the post-playing careers of student athletes. He has publications in Racism in College Athletics, The Journal of African American History, Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletes in Education, and Spectrum: A Journal on Black Men.
