I’ve done quite a bit of anti-racism and anti-oppression work in the past and inevitably people in these trainings want to know what concrete things they can do to eradicate racial inequality in the world and racial biases in themselves. Unfortunately, as anyone dedicated to anti-oppression work will tell you, its not that easy, indeed, its a life long struggle. Joy DeGruy, however, offers just one concrete example of how white folks can and might stand against racial inequality—you just have to be aware enough to know when systematic racial inequality is taking place (which is not always obvious to the untrained eye) and have the courage to say something.
