Nineteen seconds that prove to me I’m not alone.
—
Posted by Youtube user Ryan Hafey, this 19-second film is of no use for men who want to become fathers. And it may not resonate for those who are fathers of grown-up children, or adults.
But it is definitely a kind of relief for us, who enjoy the pleasures of educating kids right now. Watching Ryan staring at the camera while his kids run and shout behind him makes me feel that I am not alone! Being an active father is a wonderful activity, of course. But there are always those times are challenging, when everything seems to go wrong and you can’t help to be totally pissed off by your own children and want to sell them (or give them for free). If they seem to be so happy at the same time, you feel like you’re having the super-combo of anger and boredness. Don’t show that, it could get worse! As this father’s expression seems to say, “This too shall pass.” Put down the camera, and try running with them.

To stay young go among young people. To get old try to keep up with them
Don’t you all realize that he’s referencing a series of Internet videos by the “Music Store Guy”? They’re all entitled “What it’s really like to work in a music store.” Give credit to the originator of the concept. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-xX7iWvzbo&feature=kp
I’m guessing Ryan has watched the Vine videos of Alan White (http://www.buzzfeed.com/alanwhite/this-fathers-videos-of-his-saturday-mornings-are-cute-and-ut) and also, Lisa Marie, told his kids to run around the table for effect.
Still, it’s a humorous video and I can relate 🙂
I’m kinda shocked that no one pointed out that the children are running and screaming inside of the house. If I had done this, I would have first been sent to my room for a long time out. And then if I did it again, I would have been grounded. People think that this is harsh punishment, but the way my parents raised me — and other parents raised their children — was in a way to prepare them for preschool, kindergarten, etc. What I learned from this is appropriate indoor behavior — how to stay in my seat, use… Read more »
Feels good to see this. I’ve got two boys, 3 and 1, with another on the way. As they get older, they learn to play with each other more and more and it gets louder and louder. When I’m there, in the midst of it, it can drive me nuts and I want to scream, sometimes I do. Seeing this video, I noticed the kids more than the dad. They were having a blast.
I’ll try and remember that next time I feel like “shushing” my kids when they’re getting raucous. Keep the great job Ryan! #dadsinthegame
None of the kids were throwing food, throwing up or throwing tantrums. Seems like a light evening to me.
Sometimes you just have to be grateful for anything that wears them out by bedtime. Besides, they’ll be sedentary couch potatoes without any exercise sooner than you think. May as well let them get some cardio in before they stop moving completely…..
Ryan, you’re lucky your house is so clean! That kid-nado looks like it could make some messes.
I once took 15 little boys under the age of 8 to the children’s day at the Charleston Museum. They had been angels the whole day, and while we were waiting for our van to come from the parking lot, they were running around screaming outside the museum, chasing each other. Some guy said to me, “Can’t you control these kids?” in a really grumpy voice. I shrugged and said, “No, I really can’t.” And I didn’t want to. Kids (and adults) need time to run around and yell from time to time.
I’m with you. I have hyperactive 8 year old twin boys. They are a lot of work to keep under control and feed off each other energy-wise, which over time tends to sap my energy. I have to ration my energy for fighting the important battles. Sometimes that may not come across to others in public the way I would like, and parent respondents on many sites seem to be so judgemental. They’re kids, they’re not going to be 100% under control 100% of the time ,and I don’t want them scared enough to feel they have to be. I’m… Read more »

I love the sound of kids having fun, and the dog joining them towards the end was an unexpected bonus. I hope “Dad” jumped up and joined the race too.
