In honor of our United States veterans.
—
Attention!
I don’t know but I’ve been told,
We got Veterans young and old.
We celebrate the sacrifice you made,
Our heroes here and those whose lives were laid.
You fought in air, land, and the sea,
To let freedom reign for you and me!
Our greatest thanks is owed to you,
For protecting the Red, White and Blue.
At Ease!
From the streets of El Sereno, to the parks of Lincoln Heights,
Our valiant military heroes are the brave who fought the fights!
Black, White, Hispanic, Gentile, and Jew
We tip our hats to you the few.
Sisters united, brothers in arms,
You emerged from cities, suburbs, and farms.
You were the ones who answered the desperate call,
Who made the selfless sacrifice and risked it all.
You came home while others did not,
Only you know the feeling for side by side you fought.
Some came back to marching bands, parades, and thankful cheers,
Whiles others returned to an unfamiliar home filled with anger, hate, and sneers.
Congressional medals of honor, purple hearts, and bronze stars,
Are never enough tribute to express our gratitude for your scars.
You are the men and women who our country owes,
The greatest respect for taking the hardest blows.
From the trenches of the great world wars,
To the attacks on 9/11 that pounded on our back door.
From the jungles of the unforgiving distant land,
To the barren desserts filled with endless sand.
There’s no doubt our military has an invincible spirit,
Beware of the sleeping giant, might, and power, you better fear it.
As a simpler reminder just look to the past,
To recall a few tyrants who didn’t last.
You HIT-ler, and Osama Bin Ladin didn’t survive,
Because the tenacity of the mission is always kept alive.
And to those who question if it’s worth it all,
To you I say, Democracy and Freedom, the price is tall.
Be thankful for the Veil protected by what you never had to see,
The brothers and sisters who fought, died, were injured and bloody.
Remember that tyranny and oppression shall never last,
Because our dedicated military men and women strike hard and fast.
Be grateful and join me in thanking our veterans on this special day,
For me there is no better way,
To my father, cousins, friends, and even strangers,
Thank you for being soldiers, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Rangers
For being the Few and Proud,
For Being All That You Can Be!
And no matter your motto,
“Integrity First,” “Service Before Self,” “Excellence in All We Do,”
“Semper Fidelis” or “Semper Paratus,”
“Honor, Courage, Commitment” or “This We will Defend,”
Know deep in your hearts that we will honor you, our heroes, until the end!
Thank you for your dedication and service.
Thank you for your bravery.
Thank you for your heroism.
Thank you for my freedom.
Thank you for making our world a better place!
Happy Veteran’s Day!
