Not to be outdone, fleas are also enjoying a renaissance of disease-spreading among Humans and in addition, they are becoming more resistant to chemical agents used to fight their populations by homeowners and pet owners. If you have a cat or dog and notice your flea collar doesn’t have the bite it used to, you are likely experiencing chemically-resistant fleas.
The nature of invasive species, their durability, their adaptability, and their rapacious nature often make them far more difficult to remove once they have taken root in an area, requiring concentrated efforts which unless they are taken early, prove fruitless in the end.
This is considered an incidental aspect of climate change relatively speaking, but a population which may be weakened by climate change, migratory or dislodged due to famine could prove both vulnerable and able to spread such diseases without realizing they are doing it. They are also subject to such diseases when their vector carrier is small and difficult to eradicate such as field mice or rats, which were both carriers of fleas and the famed bubonic plague in the Middle Ages.
There are dozens of invasive species taking advantage of climate change. We need to begin studying how these invisible invasions affect our ecosystems before a pandemic takes place.

There will be more. It’s up to us to spread the word about the impending apocalypse.
“Here’s the thing about The Good Men Project. We are trying to create big, sweeping, societal changes—–overturn stereotypes, eliminate racism, sexism, homophobia, be a positive force for good for things like education reform and the environment. And we’re also giving individuals the tools they need to make individual change—-with their own relationships, with the way they parent, with their ability to be more conscious, more mindful, and more insightful. For some people, that could get overwhelming. But for those of us here at The Good Men Project, it is not overwhelming. It is simply something we do—–every day. We do it with teamwork, with compassion, with an understanding of systems and how they work, and with shared insights from a diversity of viewpoints.” —– Lisa Hickey, Publisher of The Good Men Project and CEO of Good Men Media Inc.
