Men and Women talk about their personal definitions of masculinity and femininity. This is everyday people contributing to the conversation.
“I don’t think it’s super important to discuss masculinity and femininity at a young age with kids, mostly because they’re gonna figure out what works best for them. If you throw this stuff at them at such a young age then they’re going to be more likely to try and attach themselves to a specific label. Masculine, we were told, are strong and may be aggressive and feminine nurturing and kind. And to me, I feel like everybody inside of them has the potential to be all of those things and if you start defining what is masculine and what is feminine then you’re cutting people off potentially from nurturing those parts of themselves and growing in those different ways.”
