Does it take you a long time to sleep? Are you always frustrated when trying to sleep because you can’t just sleep? Well, sorry about that.
In this article, I will show you the reasons why you have a hard time sleeping. I will also give you tips on how to sleep easily.
According to scientists, there are reasons why you have a hard time sleeping.
Temperature: this plays an important role in your sleeping experience. Many don’t take the temperature of their room seriously, therefore they would definitely have a hard time sleeping.
A terrible sleeping experience would occur when your room temperature is high coupled with high humidity
The normal body l cooling process that happens during sleep is prevented from happening in hot temperatures.
Temperature above normal disrupts your ability to sleep. This normal is between 60-70°.
TIPS TO HELP YOU SLEEP BETTER
During the summer, if you don’t have a conditioning system at home, you can try out the following. I guarantee that if you try them out, you will fall asleep almost immediately when you jump on your bed.
Use AirFoam for a better sleeping experience
AirFoams would provide you with the best sleeping experience.
Avoid the use of foams like memory foam because they prevent your body from releasing heat, which in turn increases your temperature.
Consider switching to AirFoam, which does not trap heat, unlike memory foam. Nolah Mattress is one of the best out there for controlling the temperature. (It is currently on sale!)
Do little exercise
You would definitely sleep faster when you do a little exercise before sleeping. I have tried this several times, and it has always worked for me.
Just make sure you do a light exercise that doesn’t require too much energy, so your body wouldn’t be too hot which could worsen the situation of trying hard to sleep.
Exercises you can try out are Yoga, push-ups.
Note that exercise does not prevent you from sleeping.
Use Nolah’s AirFoam pillow.
Nolah’s AirFoam helps you to sleep better because they produce their pillows in such a way that it stays cold even after resting your head on it. Very few companies out there do this. Nolah’s AirFoam pillow is a good option to get your pillows from.
Change your room.
If there is a room in your house with a lower altitude, sleep there because you will be cooler there. If that’s impossible, keep the curtains of your room down during the day to reduce the way room temperature increases. Try keeping the room as dark as you can because light trickling its way through the window can disrupt sleep.
Do not sleep with others.
When different people sleep together, they generate heat, so avoid sharing a bed on nights with high temperatures.
If others insist on you sharing your bed with them, be sure to have the right bed and fan to keep the room temperature down so everyone would be comfortable especially you, who regularly has a hard time sleeping.
Better to use a fan.
Fans would help you a lot. They go a long way in helping you sleep. They keep you cool after a bath, and also provide a kind of noise that you get used to which helps you sleep.
If you have a ceiling fan, try making it spin in a counterclockwise direction so it can push hot air out. If you feel that’s not enough for you, try out a bedside fan.
Bathe before sleeping.
You would definitely sweat during the day, therefore it is necessary that you bathe before sleeping. This would make you feel fresh and also help you emotionally.
It doesn’t have to be a cold shower unless you feel like doing that.
Hydrate yourself well.
Make sure you drink water throughout the day and have a glass of water before bed because they are key for healthy and restful sleep.
Desist from taking alcohol when you are about to go to bed because they contain chemicals that make you dehydrated.
Compressors and ice packs can go a long way.
Cold compressors of ice packs wrapped in the pulse points of your body like wrist, ankle, behind the knees can cool down your whole body. If you can’t do that, try slipping ice packs inside your pillows to give their chilling effect, just make sure they don’t leak out.
Distract yourself by doing a breathing exercise.
Do a breathing exercise to help take your mind off the temperature, which can, in turn, calm you down.
You can do this by doing the 4-7-8 breathing technique, which involves breathing in for four counts, holding breath for seven, and exhaling for eight counts, during the process of doing this you would fall asleep.
When in bed, don’t only focus on heat and humidity.
