If I learned anything from my parents, it was the importance of saving for that possible rainy day. At a young age, I opened up a bank account and put away some money each week. It was fun, I learned the importance of saving money, and my bank account grew, slowly but surely each week.
As I grew older and got married, my wife and I realized that if we wanted to have a comfortable retirement someday, we needed to do a little better than simply put money away in the bank each week. After all, we wanted to be able to both quit work at some point, enjoy life, travel, visit future grandchildren, and embrace those so-called “golden years.” I wanted to be that person who worked to live, not live to work, and I wanted that living to happen sooner than later. We needed to start making sound investments.
After a great deal of personal research, as well as talking to a number of friends and family members, I decided to invest in precious metals, particularly that of silver. As one who has a large family, our expenses are high, and the money I have to invest is limited. What I found, during my research, was that silver was an affordable precious metal; affordable for one on a fixed income like mine. Indeed, as our economy is in better shape in 2017 than it was even five years back, my friends who are experts in investment tell me that this is a great time to invest in silver.
Now, as a father myself, I have tried to pass along some of the lessons I learned from my own parents. To be sure, I have heard myself say over and over “I sound just like my father. When did this happen?” Well, the lesson of saving for that future rainy day is one I want to pass along to my own children. Therefore, I have decided to include my children in the process. Not only am I spending time with them, but I am also teaching them the importance of saving for their own futures, as well, which is a lesson I want to pass along to my children, and my future grandchildren.
The investments have been made in silver. Now, I look forward to that golden retirement that will surely come.
