If you were to know me on a personal level you’d know that I have a love for TED Talks that is almost unmatched against other content available on the internet. I find 90% of them interesting to me and have been known to get lost in a consistent stream of them on YouTube. For me, TED Talks are almost like getting lost on Wikipedia or IMDB.
I’ve been a parent now for over four years. Some days it seems like I’ve gotten the task down to a science. Other days, like today, I feel like a twelve-year-old who volunteered to babysit for two kids but was surprised by seven. I get overwhelmed with the noisiness of my house. The constant questions that kids ask that are virtually impossible to answer, but inevitably require answering for the conversation to change directions.
I love my wife and kids more than anything on this Earth. But that doesn’t mean being a parent or a husband is easy. It’s the hardest thing I do any day of the week, but it’s also the thing in my life that gives me purpose and direction. And ultimately they bring me unending joy. But it’s hard.
This video provides a little insight into why this happens. If you’re a parent, this is something you need to watch.
