His name is iconic.
Generations young and old continue to read his books, and so many of his words have left a lasting impression and linger on our minds long after we have closed the pages.
Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known by his pen name Dr. Seuss, was a writer and cartoonist. He published his first book, And to Think I saw It on Mulberry Street, in 1937. What followed was a long list of bestsellers including, The Cat and the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham.
For most, you can’t help but find yourself smiling while reading a Dr. Seuss book. His rhymes and characters evoke happiness. There are many quotes from the famous author, which inspire joy. Here are just a few of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes.
“You are you. Now, isn’t that pleasant?”
“Today is gone. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”
“Kid, you’ll move mountains! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way!”
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It is not. And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!”
“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.”
“I am weird, you are weird. Everyone in this world is weird. One day two people come together in mutual weirdness and fall in love.”
“Fun is good”
“You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
“When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.”
“I am lucky to be what I am! Thank goodness I’m not just a clam or ham or a dirty jar of sour gooseberry jam! I am what I am. That’s a great thing to be.”
“You’ll meet things that will scare you right out of your pants!”
“We should strive to treat each other with common Human Decency”
“I meant what I said and said what I meant.”
“To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.”
“I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny.”
“Don’t give up now, I believe in you all! A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
“Take every chance, drop every fear.”
“Think! You can think any Think that you wish!”
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is youer than you.”
