We all have a dark side. It’s a part of being human. But sometimes, our darker impulses get the better of us… and it starts to impact the quality of our life.
These days, it seems like everyone is struggling with something: stress at work, relationship problems, health issues, and on and on. Yet, many people still manage to maintain an unrealistic sense of optimism through it all. They refuse to admit they are battling severe demons or potentially catastrophic problems. Worse yet, many people choose to ignore these problems until they get so out of hand, they become unbearable. Then, they reach a breaking point and make a significant change — whether in their work-life, personal life, or both.
So let’s focus on these behaviors in this blog post; these are the behaviors of people who carry around a lot of emotional baggage, which is often hidden deep inside.
1. Anger: The Silent Killer
Anger is a natural human emotion, but it can also be the most dangerous. It can lead to chronic stress, depression, and even heart disease. Not only does it affect your mood, but it has been shown that anger affects your physical health as well. As a result of this danger, anger management is becoming a popular topic for people to research and learn about.
Aggression can ruin your life by affecting your relationships, career, and mental wellbeing. Aggressive behavior harms many aspects of a person’s life. It can lead to problems in work or school and issues with family and friends. There are multiple ways aggressive behavior can affect you emotionally. Violence is a form of aggression that affects more than just the victim.
People often deal with anger in different ways. Some try to suppress it, others express it, and some people do both of these ways. It’s essential to be aware of the signs that indicate you’re becoming angry. If your anger harms others, recognizing that you need help can be an essential first step.
There are many ways to deal with anger. One method is to take deep breaths and count to 10. While you’re counting, focus on something like your heart rate or the feeling of your feet on the ground, anything that will help distract you from what’s making you mad. You can also turn your anger into something else by using it as fuel for exercise.
I mean to do that thing that can distract your mind from being mad….
2. Greed: The Root Of All Evil
Some people see greed as a vice rooted in all human nature and culture, and it drives our obsession with wealth and power. Others think that greed is just a survival instinct, and there is nothing wrong with it. However, greed can lead to corruption, leading to significant social and economic crises. For example, the 2008 financial crisis was partly due to banks making risky investments to get more profit.
Greediness is something that can easily, quickly, and unexpectedly take over your life. It can lead to various consequences, from financial ruin to damaged relationships. It may come as a surprise, but greediness is considered a deadly sin by many religions worldwide. Greediness can ruin your life from the inside out because of the feelings of isolation and unhappiness it causes.
3. Laziness: The Most Deadly Of All
Laziness is an awful characteristic that can affect your relationships, academics, and well-being. Laziness can also affect the people around you as well as yourself. The more you procrastinate or avoid work, the more it will become a habit and eventually weave its way into every aspect of your life. This will lead to a feeling of uselessness and lack of accomplishment, which will be detrimental to your mental health and happiness for years to come.
Furthermore, it is easy to fall into the trap of laziness if you are surrounded by people who encourage you to do the same.
What is Lazy? Simply put, Lazy is the state of doing nothing (or as little as possible) to achieve a goal. The dictionary defines Lazy as being “lacking in energy or ambition.”
In other words, Lazy is the absence of action. If you procrastinate on a project or assignment for an extended period, you exhibit laziness signs.
Another way to look at it is, procrastination is a symptom of laziness. Procrastination is the result of laziness plus fear. Sometimes, you may be too busy to start a project right away.
4. Jealousy: Poisonous For Relationships
Jealousy is one of the most toxic emotions that can result in relationships. The green-eyed monster can be easy to identify, but it can also manifest itself in more subtle ways. For example, you feel threatened by someone who looks similar to your partner or feels hurt if they don’t call you back right away. Jealousy can feed off itself and create a cycle of paranoia and distrust.
Jealousy is an inevitable feeling. No one wants their significant other to be attracted to someone else or flirt with someone else. However, it would help if you didn’t let this feeling consume you because jealousy will poison your relationship and life. It may seem like the easy thing to do, but it will only lead to resentment and loneliness, which will ultimately destroy your relationship.
6. Arrogance: A Superior Attitude That Can Sabotage Your Success
Arrogant behavior is a form of cockiness. It’s the idea that you know the best and anything else is either wrong or not worth consideration. For some, it’s a defense mechanism. They put up this facade to protect themselves from rejection and failure. Sometimes, they’re acting macho or challenging because they feel insecure about themselves. When arrogance isn’t combined with other qualities like intelligence and humor, it can be off-putting and harmful to your life and relationships.
People are more likely to act unapologetically when they believe their opinions are universally correct. Arrogant behavior can be more than just an annoyance. It can affect your relationships, financial stability, and even your health. When someone’s opinion is different from ours, it is essential to be humble and acknowledge their thoughts before continuing with our own.
7. Envy: Poisonous To Your Health And Happiness
Envy is a desire for something that someone else has. It’s natural to want what other people have, but it can turn into an unhealthy feeling if you focus too much on what they have and not what you do. Envy can harm your life by causing you to take out your frustrations on others. For example, when someone makes higher salaries than you, you might feel better than you because they make more money. This feeling of envy can cause you to dislike them and even wish that their success would be taken away from them so you could have it instead.
When we are envious, our minds usually focus on what’s wrong with the other person (often in a negative way). We may also get angry at times when they succeed because we feel like we should or that they don’t deserve to enjoy it. Our jealousy makes us more likely to judge others as well.
