Love is feeling safe, no matter where you are.
You cannot possibly feel loved until you feel safe with that person.
It doesn’t matter if you’re friends, besties, or couples; in each and every relation, take any relation for that matter, feeling safe is constant.
To be honest, the best gift you can give someone is your time and the ability to feel safe around you.
So here are some lessons that you must take into account to make sure that your date, girlfriend, fiancee, wife, or any woman around you, for that matter, feels safe.
1. Maintaining a Healthy Distance-
Please don’t be creepy guys.
Don’t be desperate, see how the date is going and act accordingly.
I’m not saying not to hold her hands, not to guide her through a crowded street, do all of this but pay attention to how she reacts and then move ahead.
In any relationship observe more and talk less.
Observations make you aware of what people want from you and you’ll youself get that, just give it some time.
Hold your hand in front of her. If she holds it back, then she’s starting to get comfy with you. If she doesn’t, then don’t be frustrated or lose your cool; just give her some time, that’s all. Not everyone is the same, right?
When you do this, you not only take charge but also politely ask her to hold your hand without actually asking her. How cool is that?
2. Talking Down To Others or Bad-Mouthing Others-
“Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it, you’ve got to give it.”
— R.G. Risch
If you keep talking down to others, what are the chances that you won’t do the same thing about her in the future if things don’t work out (fingers crossed) between you two?
We don’t say anything derogatory to those we respect, right?
This happens mostly when you’re talking about your ex. If you’re badmouthing your ex, then doesn’t that mean you’re questioning your own choice? You chose her to be your girlfriend, and now, for some reason, things didn’t work between you two, and you’re cursing and bad-mouthing her? Doesn’t it seem ridiculous?
Believe in karma; it gets back to everyone. If your ex did something bad, then let it be; you bad-mouthing them isn’t going to fix anything — in fact, it’s going to make you look bad.
3. Keep Your Past in the Past-
There is nothing you or she can do about your past. So just forget it.
Don’t brag about how many women you dated, and please don’t compare her to anyone. I shouldn’t even be telling you this; this must happen naturally.
If she asks about your past relationships, then just say we had our differences, so we parted our ways — that’s all. No blame games, no bad-mouthing, nothing.
If either of you made mistakes and that ended up in a breakup, it’s okay; you learned something from that, and you won’t repeat it again.
Focus on your present and your future.
4. Be a Chivalrous Man-But Out of Mutual Respect, Not Gender
Now you know the basic like,
- Opening doors
- Walking outside of the sidewalk
- Pulling out chairs for her
- Offering your coat
- Bringing her flowers
and so on.
But besides these, there are many subtle and detailed habits that you should inculcate in order to be chivalrous.
- Respecting her time (Be punctual always, whether it’s a date, meeting, lecture, or anything.)
- Be present not just physically but emotionally too.
- Be a good listener.
- Give her compliments and not just for a sake of giving them
- Honor her preferences
- If she lives near by offer to walk her home
- Make sure she reached home safely
- Be honest about everything but respectfully.
5. Take Actions Rooted in Kindness-
It’s not that she cannot do all of this. She can do everything you can, no doubt about that.
When you take action, it shows how much invested and interested you are in her.
There’s no need to be extravagant in anything, just simple actions, but from the bottom of your heart, like a simple plate of food when you’re hungry, which touches your soul.
Get her order when it’s ready, feed her the first bite, then you start devouring. Ask her often if she’s okay or if she needs something.
OBSERVE, ASSESS, AND ACT It’s that simple.
Whatever you do, do it from the bottom of your heart, or else don’t do it at all.
Do inculcate these and make sure every woman around you feels safe.
These are common habits and not something special. It is our duty to make everyone feel safe around us; otherwise, we’re just animals, aren’t we?
I mean animals teach us a lot more than we teach ourselves.
All the best to all of us out there.💪
