A Rap Ode for SCOTUS

SCOTUS rules in retrograde

In NRA’s image it is made

For open carry’s now displayed

And our choices did they trade

Affirmative Action it has stayed

And we the public they’ve betrayed

Clarence Thomas and Alito

MAGA’s side oh what a freakshow

Those rich donors does Clarence follow

Sammy’s flag is not a rainbow

Kavanaugh beer he still does swallow

Roberts’ court seems so much loco

Christian nationalism reflects its project

Those are cancelled when they object

Unlink faith and rule they reject

Whites and males only they accept

Jesus dictates to them this mandate

Tyranny in God’s name they do cement

Ethical codes not for this court

They’re benched for life and we can’t thwart

They’re the umpires and it’s their sport

Limitless powers they have enforced

We can impeach but rarely brought

This constitutional branch they do assault

6 of 9 are out of step with the country

This majority speaks for a tiny minority

Seeking to take us back to a time of infamy

Back-alley abortions and no say over our sexuality

Gun stocks mowing us down from the balcony

These 6 feel no shame and have no empathy

Sotomayor Kegan Brown Jackson

For them there is an all true maxim

Serving us is no mere transaction

Human rights happen not by subtraction

Under their names will stand this caption

“They sought to protect in every action.”

For Justice Brandeis, Warren, and Day O’Connor

For Beder Ginsberg and Thurgood Marshall we honor

Respecting the justice system holding high the banner

We the People will believe and act in a similar manner

From multiple lands and backgrounds we gather

To stand for freedom, symbolic glass and marble ceilings we’ll shatter.
