Congratulations! You’ve been married another year! Time to pop the big question: how will you celebrate? It’s almost as tough a conundrum as finding the right gift for your spouse (by the way, have you done that yet?). Whether this is a silver anniversary or a paper one, there are plenty of unique ways to celebrate your marriage–both practical and fun!
Renovate
Perhaps the two of you have been in the same home for forty years. Perhaps you’re buying your first house, and it’s a modest, plain-looking place. Either way, updating and renovating a space in your house is a great treat for each other. You two can make it a project to bond over, like painting a room or shopping together for the new appliances.
If it’s time for a new stove, maybe it’s time for a lot of new kitchen appliances. You all might want to update with luxury kitchen equipment from dacor.com. Top-of-the-line appliances don’t just look nice; they are outfitted with cutting-edge, “smart” technology that makes cooking and cleaning easier, more efficient, and of higher quality.
If it’s time to update from old wallpaper, go for it! Simply updating walls or flooring creates a fresh look. Have a fun weekend repainting walls or cabinets together. Research the color or pattern scheme you want, go pick out new hardware and paint colors, and then go home and paint, clean, and get bonding!
That big splurge
On the other hand, this may be the opportunity to make that big splurge you’ve been saving up for. If it’s your nickel, copper, or even bronze anniversary, it would be fitting to splurge on cool new equipment–like a new car. Perhaps you all having been saving up for a snazzy appliance. Purchasing it on your anniversary could be a fun way to celebrate the day.
A splurge could also count as a trip. Heck, double-up that new car with a road trip! Have you all been abroad before? This could be the year to take a week in London, Tokyo, or Paris. If you’re the adventurous types, it might be fun to buy a EuroRail pass and take a train/backpacking trip across Europe. On the other hand, you both may be ready for a more laid-back, luxurious sort of trip with a romantic hotel and darling cafes. Or perhaps it’s even time to revisit your honeymoon spot!
Renew your vows
If you have been married a while, consider renewing your vows. You can do this accompanied by your dearest family and friends, or you could also do it with just the two of you and the officiant. There are lots of reasons to renew vows; perhaps you all got married in a civil ceremony and now you want to have a religious ceremony or vice versa; perhaps you weren’t able to have certain family members or friends there. Renewing vows is a symbolic ceremony that you can do really anywhere, including at chapels, churches, or other venues of your choice. It’s a simple ceremony–not another full-out wedding! All the same, it’s a meaningful way to celebrate your life together.
