Is it a crime to be male, stale, pale, frail, or Yale?!!
Roaring Rivers
Torrents, currents, and ripples by Christyl Rivers, PhD.
We’re not running out just yet
When it comes to guys in charge, there are still a vast number who are whiter, Ivy-league educated, older, and more “male” than most of us.
The latest among these is JD Vance. Vance, who rallies against higher education and liberal colleges, received his ivy-covered education at Yale. He received his “hillbilly” credentials by having ancestors who lived in Kentucky, and summer visits to Appalachia.
No less than five U.S. Presidents graduated from Yale. And seven of them graduated from Harvard.
To get into college, especially if you travel by way-back machine, it’s advisable to be born a boy, white, rich, and connected to power. Of the five white men graduated from Yale, two had the last name “Bush,” one was named Taft, (born to a DC political power family) the most recent was named Bill Clinton, and the other guy was a Vice President. Ford, who only became POTUS — when Nixon resigned in disgrace, was not elected. Nor was Hillary Clinton who went to Yale law school, but was born too early in an era that didn’t recognize women existed.
Disgrace, shame, introspection, or anything like it, is a loser/weakling idea to the Trumpeteers and their new V.P pick, Vance.
This non-rapist lady named Hillary Clinton also went to Yale law school, but was born too early to catch the way back machine, which clearly had a “No girls allowed” sign on it’s caboose. It did not matter if Ms. Clinton got the highest number of votes and won the popular race. She was married to the wrong power type, tried to be more manly than peace/dove/hippie. And, she made a speech where she decried those against equality, same sex marriage, reproductive rights, and who made clearly racist, xenophobic, and sexist supremacists claims. She said “ just be grossly generalistic” and you could put half of Trump voters into a basket of deplorables.”
Clinton’s political enemies immediately seized upon this speech gaffe and ignored that the other half of Trump’s voters that she had said, just “ felt abandoned and desperate.”
(How we all miss such simple and more coherent speech patterns, where at least we know this person is speaking a common language even if we didn’t graduate from Yale.)
What to do about the pale, Yale, stale, males?
Vance and lots of his cohorts had the privilege to go to what were once called “good schools,” but are not better known as “unattainable” places for most people to afford.
The fight (fight, fight) continues to privatize all education, and/or ban it from school courses lest someone find out about the pale Yale males, and feel a stab of awareness and conscience. AKA, history.
Vance is on the campaign trail using his Yale career to bash colleges in general. He is an elite tech bro that doesn’t want women, or other so-called human people, to have human rights, healthcare, clean air, water, or food, autonomy, or freedom. Like Clinton, he wants to appeal to those who feel left behind, but he knows better than to tell them they are desperate or abandoned. He is more likely to tell them they are forgotten heroes.
But in the news is a young lady named Kamala Harris. The MAGA elites cannot attack Harris for being a woman, being a minority, being inexperienced, being an “unmarried cat lady” being a cop, being a traitor, being born rich, or being too white, or too old. She is even on the tough side of “law and order,” in that she is a prosecutor and their guy is a felon.
So far, their guy has only been able to make fun of her laugh, because they know darn well they can’t attack her street cred.
That doesn’t leave them with much ammo, (though they still claim to have more gun rights and assassin rifles than she does).
Her V.P. pick may help democrats a lot.
If she were to pick another NON pale, Yale, stale, male, for V.P.,people will likely say feminism has gone too far. Yet, it’s very telling that no one said that when for almost 250 years, every single POTUS and V.P. was represented by a very narrow demographic of people; they are the Pale (white) Yale, (educated) Stale, (old) and male, (bros and good ole’ boys.)
A lot of people have noticed that men and boys are having some trouble. It’s true. This is true, we are in an adjustment phase because Earth World is changing.
Welcome to the club. Boys allowed!! Until we remove the sting and stigma of sexism, racism, exploitation, and rigid role playing, we are going to have some work to do.
