Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
We rattle off the worst songs:
Who let the dogs out? Here comes
the bride. “Puberty Love” from
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
Strange how tomatoes appeared so
menacingly in their docility.
How a pulpy rotten one down in the
garbage disposal surged from
the stainless steel sink to claim
your life. All the poems that say
“What I wouldn’t give”
I don’t believe. The leaves
of a tomato like the pleated green
triangular cap of Disney’s Robin Hood.
I cut up your heart and I spread it
around to those poor yearners.
