Do you feel anxious? Stressed out? Overwhelmed? Well, Colton Haynes would like to help.
In a new YouTube video, Colton shares some of the wisdom he’s acquired in his 28 years on Earth about how to manage anxiety. His strategies include deep breathing exercises and tricking one’s mind about what it’s actually feeling.
“A really really good way to kind of help yourself get over your anxiety is to tell yourself that you’re excited instead of you’re anxious,” he says, “because if you’re excited, it’s almost the same feeling, but obviously without the panic part.”
The video is part of a series produced by the Child Mind Institute that features celebrities giving advice to their younger selves regarding various mental health issues.
Anxiety, Colton adds, is OK and not something anyone should freak out about.
“You’re not alone,” he assures people. “There’s millions of people out there who suffer from crippling anxiety, whether it be from fainting or from sweating or so may different ailments from anxiety.”
