We have a strong tendency to compare ourselves to those at the top, whether it’s in the skills we have, the art we do, how well we play a game, and even how we look. In this humorous piece, I suggest some ways to deal with this tendency. For example, if you’d like to feel good about your abilities in a game, don’t play against someone at or above your level, or even someone slightly below. Instead, play against a young child. I can assure you that in a game of Scrabble, for example, you’ll be able to beat almost any five-year-old.
