Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
Interpersonal therapy is a time-limited treatment for depressive episodes. IPT focuses on thoughts and changing and reframing your thinking; Interpersonal Therapy focuses on the social skills that people with depression need to practice. When you’re depressed, you might be tempted to isolate. But with IPT you get a chance to talk about interpersonal relationships and work on cultivating and maintaining those connections. IPT is used to treat Major Depressive Disorder.
Psychodynamic therapy is a common form of mental health treatment. People with depression can benefit from talking about their history. Your therapist will focus on childhood and adolescence. And they will talk about how they matured into an adult. They will discuss traumatic events that may have impacted the person. Psychodynamic therapy can be useful in treating depression. The person has a chance to talk about anything that affected them in a significant way and could have contributed to their depressive episodes.
