“The virtue of moderation.” with this wisdom in mind, I continue my research on being more present by doing less. How can we remain productive while doing less? Doing less does not mean sitting idly with nothing to do. Instead, it means making conscious choices to strike a balance between diligent action and avoiding excessive worries, focusing on what truly matters.
Today, we have unlimited access to entertainment, making it incredibly easy to engage in unproductive activities. The essence of the “do less” principle is not just eliminating meaningless activities but also working smarter and more effectively to accomplish what is necessary. Beyond inner peace, the greatest benefit we gain from this approach is the ability to do less but do it better.
A useful habit is to prepare a to-do list the night before, outlining the tasks for the following day. This not only provides a sense of control but also reduces uncertainty, alleviating mental burdens. Planning ahead is an effective way to keep your mind calm, as it minimizes worries and allows you to focus on essential actions.
I am not suggesting abandoning the virtue of diligence while doing less. Instead, I encourage making more mindful and efficient choices by focusing on the essentials to achieve a calmer and more meaningful life.
There is no place more peaceful, free, or distant from problems than your own soul. Traveling and seeking escape are unnecessary for finding calmness. Wherever we go, we bring ourselves along, and once the excitement of newness fades, our minds return to their usual state. I question why we need to go far when we can find sanctuary within ourselves. I believe in the importance of inner reflection to discover peace and tranquility.
We must understand that while a change of scenery is wonderful, it alone does not calm us or bring peace to the soul. By learning to look within and incorporating meditation into our lives, we can refresh our minds and cultivate a more serene daily existence. To achieve this, we need to create more moments for contemplation and reflection.
