Have you ever had one of those days where every step you take seems to turn to sh*t? You know the days I am talking about. Locking your car keys in the car, placing the milk in the cabinet rather than back in the refrigerator, flat tires, trains when you are running late, trains stopped on the tracks, getting your coffee just right and then spilling it all over the floor. Those days. The days when it seems like not one d**n thing can go right.
Ever wonder what is really going on as the calamity of errors seems to pile up? Ever wonder why it is usually not just one thing that goes wrong but rather a series of events? Perhaps it is just me. However, I notice once life is directed on a certain path the course remains until I STOP and take notice. I am taking notice now because today was one of those days. A student running in the hallway set off a series of events today. She ran into me, smashing my cup filled with hot coffee to bits and leaving me drenched with the aromatic brew that I was so patiently waiting to sip upon reaching my desk. The wheels were in motion.
Now, I am not blaming this student for the remainder of seemingly catastrophic events that followed which made today the Mondayest Wednesday ever. It was, however, in that moment of the collision when my energy and vibration that I was putting back into the world changed. What followed was a series of events that would be seen in some sort of tragic comedy. I am sure you have seen the guy step on the rake repeatedly while getting bonked on the head. Welcome to my day. Literally, one thing following the next and I just was not paying attention to what was really going on around me or within me.
I wasn’t paying attention until I was nearly t-boned by a car in an intersection. Rather than looking at the traffic light right in front of me which was red, I was looking at the traffic light beyond that which was green. Luckily, the car driving perpendicular was able to swerve and not hit me while not harming anyone else either. Luckily. I pulled over and collected myself for a few moments. I sat thinking about the days events and what was really going on with this d**n day. That is when it occurred to me.
I was moving too quickly and not paying attention. The universe was trying to get me to slow down with each subsequent event. With each passing event, I became more and more tense. My vibration and energy continuing to shift in a negative direction. I caught myself uttering the words, “UGH, what next?” in the wake of each minor event.
As I look back at the incident that set the wheels in motion I honestly cannot say if it was me or the student who was in the wrong. Most likely we were both moving a little faster and paying a little less attention than we should have been. We are all made up of energy and vibrations which we put out into the world. Both the energy and vibrations reverberate back to us. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Energy most certainly can shift and we can shift it into something more positive by slowing down and simply paying attention.
