3️⃣8️⃣

I don’t have anything super profound to write this morning. But I am grateful. Grateful for life. Grateful for love.

I’m looking forward to something. I see it coming. I can feel it coming. It feels good. It looks bright. Even in the midst of the state of our world today.

I know more than anyone that sometimes things need to fall apart so better things can be built in their place. Change is hard. Change is scary. Change is destabilizing. But change can also be powerful…if you allow it.

Adaptability is the key to survival. I know. Easy for me to say from my place of perceived privilege. But it’s true. Shit is bad. Shit gets worse. We feel the badness, the sadness, the anger. Some of us hold on to it. We let the negative stress of change isolate us, condemn us, consume us, until we forget everything that we’re capable of. Everything that we’ve already overcome. Everything that we already know.

This place wasn’t built for me. I don’t belong here. Never have, and probably never will. Maybe that’s why it’s so easy for me to accept that life isn’t promised to any of us. But I do know that life is what you make of it. And we make of it what we can with what we have.

Maybe I’ve resigned myself. Detached from the realities of the world. Or maybe I’ve attached myself to a faith that has made me so delusional that I believe no matter the outcome, I will be okay.

I wasn’t born in this privilege. But I have taken advantage of every opportunity that came my way. And where opportunity didn’t exist, I created it. That’s the only way to win. That’s the only way to move forward. That’s the only way to survive.

And that’s what it’s about, right?
