First they came for voting rights, and I didn’t speak out—because it didn’t affect my voting rights.
Then they came for reproductive freedoms, and I didn’t speak out—because I don’t have a womb.
Then they came for affirmative action, and I didn’t speak out–because I’m not a person of color or a woman.
Then they came for students’ debt reduction, and I didn’t speak out because I’m rich.
Then they came for LGBTQ rights to equal protection under the 14th Amendment, and I didn’t speak out—because I’m straight.
Then they came for Critical Race Theory and discussions of race, gender, and sexuality in the classroom, and I didn’t speak out—because I graduated already.
Then they came for gender affirming care, and I didn’t speak out–because I’m not transgender.
Then they came for marriage equality for same-sex couples, and I didn’t speak out—because I’m not LGBTQ.
Then they came for drag story hour and drag nightclub shows, and I didn’t speak out—because I really don’t care.
Then they came for the books they don’t want people to read, and I didn’t speak out—because I don’t read anyway.
Then they came for birthright citizenship rights for children born in the U.S. to refugee and immigrant parents, and I didn’t speak out—because me and my parents were all born in the U.S.
Then they came for my rights—and there was no one left to speak for me.
