Daily Mo Update
I think it’s no coincidence that we started drinking coffee more regularly after I shaved. Need to keep my face warm somehow, which inspires me to keep making more. #CoffeeLove
The wonderful thing about the development of Mental Health understanding across the world, is that there are more and more organizations to help the suffering. Like the Movember supported “Making Connections Initiative”.This pioneering program in the USA will develop and implement actionable, community-level prevention plans to improve mental health for men and boys. Still not a lot of reactions since I usually rock the full beard, but soon…very soon…
Sometimes when you’re depressed, you want nothing more than to just stay in bed all day. When you’re there you feel worse. You know you should be doing something to curb your depression and make better use of your time, but you have no motivation. All the energy you have has been siphoned from you and you feel even worst as a result. It’s tough to overcome this, but I find that in the morning I have an easier time getting up right away than if I lay there and let myself dwell on all the negative thoughts that accompany depression. Don’t give yourself a chance to complain or cry. Just get up. Every step you take after that no matter how small is a victory. Just getting yourself moving can put you into situations which might contribute to alleviating your depression. And if you don’t struggle getting out of bed, but you do struggle staying out of bed (i.e. returning immediately at the end of your work day), this simple tip helped me: don’t get undressed or into your pjs. You’ll be more likely to go out with a friend or have a guest if you aren’t already in comfort mode. Even if you resort to watching Netflix or playing video games instead, you’re still not in bed with your face in a pillow trying to block out the world.

Daily Mo Update
The day started off poorly. I barely pulled myself from bed; and not because I was Velcro’d to the couch by my face, because today is just… a day. I have days and I have… days. Today it took me two hours to get up, and when I finally did, I stood in the bathroom, looked over my unshaven, unkempt, broken self for a while… and finally said “Screw it.”
I turned around, went for a run, and then worked on my novel for a while. I feel no better now at the end of the day, than I did at the beginning; but tomorrow is a new day, and with it, a new me.
