Anyone who knows me also knows that I’m a massive fan of Rachel Hollis and Dave Hollis. And if you don’t know who they are, what rock are you living under?
A short recap for the rock dwellers
Rachel Hollis is the author of ‘Girl, Wash Your Face’ and the soon to be released ‘Girl, Stop Apologizing”. She is a mom, a motivational speaker, an author and a warrior of women.
Dave Hollis is the lucky man who married Rachel. Ok, I kid. Dave is far more than that and is soon to be a published author! He’s also the leading man on the morning show that no one knows.
These two are a pair of realistic super hero’s trying to teach both men and women to live to their full potential. They do this through books, online coaching, motivational speaking, a morning show and on their podcasts Rise and Rise Together.
Gah, not another guru
- It doesn’t matter what you want to call Rachel because your opinions of her are none of her business. (I’m sure there’s a possible quote in there, I’m sure a fan will let me know)
- You don’t have to watch the documentary. But you really should.
- If you are sick of hearing about other peoples success in life, get over it. These two humans are only reaching out to people who believe they have a higher calling. And with that, they are helping people achieve their dreams.
Why should I watch this or recommend it to the women I know?
If you care about any woman(mother, sister, sister-in-law or daughter) and you want to see them feeling empowered and motivated than you should show them this.
I recently watched this with my fourteen-year-old daughter. By the end of the documentary, we were both ugly crying. It was a happy cry, but an ugly cry none the less.
Immediately after the documentary was over my teen disappeared to her cave(bedroom). When she came out for food(teen), she was standing tall and smiling. I inquired as to what was going on. This was when she informed me that she was in her room writing a motivational speech for herself. She wanted to write down the things she found inspiring from the documentary and put it on her wall as a constant reminder.
Anything that can motivate a teen is a fantastic thing. And, you could pass this gift onto others.
How much does it cost?
This is the best part! If you are an Amazon Prime member, then this documentary is free for you! And free is my second favorite F word!
Otherwise, it’s 4.99 to rent.
So really what do you have to lose?
What’s with the ugly crying?
There are many moments in this film where you find something touching your heart. It gives you all of the feels.
Towards the end of this documentary, Rachel does something she’s always wanted to try. Despite others telling her no, or that it was a terrible idea, she chose to believe in herself. To be her best self in this life means no one gets to tell her who she gets to be! Without spoiling the ending, this is when the ugly crying commenced.
I cried in the theater, and I cried at home with my daughter.
Why are you suggesting this for women?
Without fail, I believe that women carry burdens that men simply don’t.
Mothers feel terrible for working, for taking time for themselves, not having a clean home or even having to order pizza because today was just too much.
Fathers typically don’t feel guilty for working, they can sit on a toilet playing games on their phone, they don’t care that the house isn’t clean(someone can fix that tomorrow. Not them of course.), and to heck with cooking a healthy meal, pizzas are delicious.
Women need to learn that they can pursue their dreams or that they are just as strong and beautiful in sweat pants and a tank top. They need to hear that they can follow their hearts and still be awesome moms. Teens need to learn that what they think matters, and that what others think of them doesn’t.
If you want the women in your life to feel accomplished, proud, happy and free, it’s your job to share this documentary with them.
Ok, so this is on Amazon
Yes, it is.
And while you’re at it you might as well order Rachels book “Girl, Wash Your Face” and “Girl, Stop Apologizing.” Conveniently they too are also available on Amazon.
Get on it; your life is waiting for you!
