Indian and Pakistani relations endured more stress during the Kargil War in 1999. The ongoing conflicts between both countries have weakened multiple attempts at peace which began with the Simla.

Indian governmental actions to shut down Article 370 during 2019 sparked additional conflicts throughout Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani government strongly dissented with India’s decision because India implemented a unilateral action in an area whose ownership faced dispute.
