It’s common knowledge that most writers are bookworms yet most people don’t know why.
From my experience I have a good idea of why they read that many books.
I love to read as much as some of you do and lately I haven’t been reading as much as I should. I took some time to optimize my social media platforms and got all into only doing it, while forgetting to read every day.
I started to notice after some time that most of the articles that took me little to no time to finish started to take me more and more time.
I thought that it was because I was feeling tired so I slept it off. Next day comes and everything is still the same so I started to think what could I have changed and suddenly it pops into my mind.
I had stopped reading consistently.
I never took into consideration that most of my ideas came when reading or thinking about the book that I read!
I wanted to test this theory and started reading again on a day to day basis and by some sort of “magic” I started to write as I did weeks before.
This got me thinking, “Why did this happen?”
It happened because I was pumping out content consistently on all of my social media platforms (except Twitter because they blocked me for no reason) yet I wasn’t pumping any content INTO my brain.
My brain was going into a marathon without any water throughout the journey, of course it was going to slow down!
Some may think that what I am saying is stupid and that reading and writing has no correlation whatsoever creative wise.
So look up how many writers read before writing and how much they read daily.
If you search at least 5 you will see that they will be reading for at least 1 hour every day and most of them will be doing it before writing their own book or article!
So dear writer, don’t stop reading, At least take some time out of your day and read some articles on Medium.
Feed your brain and it will respond accordingly! 🙂
Much love to every single one of you!
