Mitt Romney is not going to be president.
___
One of the kookier ideas to appear from Washington’s chattering classes as of late has to be the latest round of buzz about Mitt Romney as a potential GOP nominee in 2016. Predicting the future can be really hard, especially in politics, but even so this is just not going to happen.
First of all these sorts of political comebacks are incredibly rare historically. Yes Richard Nixon was able to get elected in 68′ after losing eight years before, and yes Adali Stevenson was able to get renominated in 56′ after going down in flames in 52′ but we don’t really have any other examples of this sort of thing happening in the 20th Century.
The only thing standing between Mitt Romney and the White House is his decision to run or not. If he ran there is little doubt in my mind that he would win and the polls support that assertion. I think most of the electorate realizes they made a grave mistake voting for Obama. He scoffed at the Russian threat while Romney warned against it. Romney was right. Obama is proving to be the worst president we have ever had. He doesn’t really seem to care about this country. It is very sad.
