A Young Former Offender Speaks on How to Help Rehabilitate Kids in Jails

A young man who has been behind the wall speaks out on a recent Ted Talk about what needs to really happen to rehabilitate kids who have been incarcerated to reduce recidivism in the legal system. He gives the real story behind what happens when kids are in trouble. He also dispels the myths that all correctional officers don’t care and that they can’t meet you where you are. The methods may not be what we agree is correct; however, some of them understand how kids behind the wall think.
Helping all of those involved in the juvenile justice system understand the nuances of dealing with children of all backgrounds and with mental illness can change the system as we know it. Restorative justice is the key to help those behind the wall whether kids or adults make the change needed to break the cycle.
