Meredith Morningstar’s sister once diagnosed her with a “broken picker” – meaning that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t seem to find the right person to be in a relationship with. Realizing her problem, Meredith decided to create “The Committee”, a group of friends led by her sister, who, unbeknownst to them, were tasked with screening all of Meredith’s potential partners. At one point, Meredith put a woman she had been casually dating for a year through this “gauntlet” of advisers. While Meredith found this woman to be fun company, one by one, The Committee all expressed their disapproval, culminating in the final decision of her sister: “You could do so much better.” Taking their advice, she stopped seeing this woman and eventually, with the help of her committee, fell for a “loving, energized creature” who treated her the way she deserved.
