Fresh air resets you.
Yes, it really does.
It gives your nervous system a chance to unclench.
If you do it first thing in the morning, it starts your day off on the right foot.
If you take the time to do it sometime during the day, you’ll immediately feel better. Better late than never!
We all get those feelings of the walls closing in, the noise getting louder and your brain getting foggier.
You don’t need to go on a nature retreat; you just need to step outside and get some sunlight.
Even when it’s cloudy, lift your face to the sun (or where it should be) and just stand (or sit) for a few minutes. Your body, brain, nervous system, arms and legs will all relax and reset.
Most people ignore the signal that says “OUTSIDE”. They stay inside and push through. You’ve heard these excuses before:
- I don’t have time.
- Just one more thing.
…
Try this:
- Make it a tiny ritual.
- Step outside
- Breathe once or twice (or more).
- Look at something that isn’t a screen.
- Let the outside world do all of the heavy lifting.
…
You don’t have to. But you’ll feel better if you do.
If nothing else, be grateful that there’s air out there to breathe!
You just need to exist outside for a minute and your body will handle the rest.
- It’s not a reward, it’s a reset.
- Don’t finish the to-do list first.
- Don’t wait until you’re overwhelmed.
- You don’t have to earn the fresh air. Go outside before you need it.
Humans weren’t built for indoor life.
Your brain is wired for sunlight, movement and open spaces. Consider going outside maintenance, not indulgence.
- Walk out the door.
- Let the sun and air hit your face.
- Let your shoulders drop.
- Let your system settle.
…
It’s really simple and it’s small.
And it works every single time.
