
MCLEAN, Va. & BEDFORD, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MITRE has named Stephanie Turner to the new role of Vice President, Diversity and Chief Sustainability Officer. This is an expansion of Turner’s current responsibilities for Inclusion, Diversity, and Social Innovation (IDS) that will allow the company to integrate and scale its sustainability and IDS efforts. This expanded position will also embed accountability across policies, practices, governance, and leadership performance.

Julie Bowen, senior vice president, operations and outreach, and chief legal officer, added, “Stephanie has partnered across MITRE to evolve and integrate our IDE efforts into the fabric of our work and throughout the organization. She also is strengthening and expanding relationships with industry and academia to help shape STEM education in underserved communities. She will bring commitment to collaboration and delivering whole-of-nation solutions to our corporate sustainability program.”
Savoy magazine named Turner to its list of the 2022 Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America, and the Washington Business Journal named Turner to its 2021 list of Business of Pride honorees. She serves on the advisory board for Simmons University Institute for Inclusive Leadership and the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Turner earned a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Spelman College.
