It’s Memorial Day Weekend and what better time to not only remember and thank the real-life people who have served this country and fought to protect us, but to also pay tribute to the heroes from comic books who do battle month after month to protect not only this country, but the world and even the universe and the multiverse.
First off, hats off to all the men and women who have served and who are serving in the military and who guard our freedom and protect our way of life. We’re proud of you and you should be proud of yourselves for doing what you do.
It can be a thankless job, but I, for one, say a very heartfelt thank you to members, past and present, of every branch of the armed services, especially those who have given their lives in sacrifice of freedom.
When it comes to American superheroes, no one is better than Captain America. He wears the red, white and blue with pride, and defends this country and the entire world from threats both large and small.
Steve Rogers, A.K.A. Captain America, was a soldier in the U.S. Army before becoming the superhero we know today.
Besides the individual heroes, there are groups such as the Avengers, Justice League, X-Men and Justice League Dark who protect us from harm, both physical and magical.
So on this holiday weekend, please remember to thank a vet for serving this country and don’t forget to get to your local comic book shop to buy a comic book or two and celebrate the heroes that we read about.
