Seeing Who I Am
by Nelvia Marin
I come from a father giving up on her daughter at the age of 6.
I come from a mother who believes in me.
I come from family always comes first.
I come from a mother who’s also my father.
I come from a hard-working mother who accomplishes her dreams.
I come from education is your best weapon in life.
I come from respect has to be built up; you can’t have it off the bat.
I come from having a second family, P.O.P.S.
I come from having someone in prison, my godfather.
To whom my family shows no love, we have left him in the darkness.
I come from having more enemies than friends.
It’s okay at the end of the day, they’re like a penny, two-faced and worthless.
I come from God gives the hardest battles to the strongest soldiers.
But you will always find your weaknesses.
I come from no pain is forever, but it takes time.
I come from dancing in a room with four mirrors makes my stress suddenly go away.
I come from every Saturday it’s a turn up day.
I come from writing my feelings on a blank piece of paper to clear my mind.
I come from speak up before it’s too late.
I come from stand up for what you believe, don’t let ANYONE put you down.
I come from always putting a smile on someone else’s face, that’s my job.
I come from always trying to keep my life balance.
