The universe is a genius trickster.
I have always heard that people ‘discover themselves’ late in life.
I disagree.
We know who we are. We know how to succeed, how to be happy, how to live the life of our dreams.
When we were born, we had it all figured out.
When we were a toddler we were loved abundantly and received all we needed.
We just had to be our natural selves, and we were happy and successful.
Our true nature, our uniqueness, was our competitive advantage.
But as we grew older, we were taught the ‘rules’ of life.
Those around us showed us how to fit into life’s ‘box’, and how the world really operates.
Our parents taught us that we could not be ourselves and succeed.
Our siblings taught us that we could not be ourselves and succeed.
Our teachers taught us that we could not be ourselves and succeed.
Our friends taught us that we could not be ourselves and succeed.
Our bosses taught us that we could not be ourselves and succeed.
So we suppress ourselves, withhold ourselves, shrink ourselves, thinking that is how you succeed in life.
We fall out of love with ourselves because we are never good enough.
I am not enough. I will never be enough.
You cannot be yourself and succeed in this game of life…
So we change our personality and how we show up to fit into the world…
And never truly understand how to both succeed AND be happy.
So we ultimately choke ourselves, our true nature, and wonder why we cannot find happiness.
Then one day, we realize what happened, and we begin to act like that toddler again…
We just let ourselves rip, suppressing for no one.
And we find all the love we desire inside and out, and earthly success and fulfillment.
We fall back in love with ourselves.
We use our uniqueness, our strengths, our gifts, our talents…
And find that the world has been starving for those things.
People needed us, but we never felt as though we could deliver.
Then we find joy, happiness, and love…
Just from being ourselves, and delivering our true selves to the world.
The universe is a genius trickster…
And the greatest lesson you will ever learn is that you are enough.
