In this series, I want to share lessons I’ve gleaned over the years to offer some perspective to co-travelers on life’s journey, because learning from others’ experiences means avoiding unnecessary pitfalls, and charting more fulfilling courses for ourselves.
It’s the easiest thing to overlook the simple moments in everyday life like the warmth of the morning sun or the comforting embrace of a loved one at day’s end. But such are some of the beauties in everyday life. Failing to find gratitude in them only robs us of the richness that surround us.
I learned the hard way not to just take gratitude as emotions meant only for “grand’ milestones. It isn’t! Applied to even the “little” things, you’ll find gratitude a powerful practice that’ll transform your outlook and enrich your life.
Overlooking gratitude in everyday moments blinds us to the abundance that already exists in our lives, and perpetuates a cycle of discontentment. Only practicing gratitude can help shift our focus onto what we already have and instill in us a sense of fulfillment.
Research: Practicing gratitude leads to increased happiness, improved relationships, and better mental health.
