In this series, I want to share lessons I’ve gleaned over the years to offer some perspective to co-travelers on life’s journey because learning from others’ experiences means avoiding unnecessary pitfalls and charting more fulfilling courses for ourselves.
We inevitably meet people whose actions or behavior leave much to be desired. However, we’ll be to blame if we allow their toxicity to influence our own behavior, rather than rising above and maintaining our own integrity.
Sometimes the only thing we can do about awful people is not be one of them. -Bryant McGill
I know it can be easy to get caught up in awful people drama, but you should know that stooping to their level only diminishes your own character and causes other to think less of you.
So, always strive to be a source of light amidst the darkness. Refuse to engage in their negativity or retaliate with malice and maintain your sense of dignity even in the face of adversity.
Never stoop to their level because your actions (not theirs) define who you are! Most importantly, by choosing to be the better person you can also inspire others to do the same thereby creating a ripple effect of positivity that uplifts everyone around you.
Therefore, never allow the negativity of others to dictate your own behavior. Instead, try to rise above and personify positive values always.
