The Natures of Fear and Love

When two people speak at the same time
It is challenging to listen
Especially when one is loud and animated
While the other is gentle and calm
So it is with Fear and Love
Fear raises its voice
Commands the condemnation
Knows exactly where you hurt
And exploits with precision
Love is tender even when strong
Poised with authenticity
Knows exactly how you’ve grown
And draws you to peace and home
Fear constantly complains
This is terrible
That is horrible
And it attracts all the more
Complaints to complain about
Love is always gracious
This is beautiful
That is so good
And it attracts even more
Fresh blessings to be in awe about
Terrible and Beautiful are often both present
And to acknowledge the truth of both is good
But more often yet there is a choice
One does not have to be focused on Terrible
You may choose Beautiful to breathe within
Fear takes everything personally
Did you insult me?
I am hurt
And I will strike back
Because now you will hurt like me
Love knows that others often project
It was not about me
They are hurt
And I have my boundaries
That keep this from my heart
Fear insults you worse from within
You think you are being smart
But you are just being played
Convinced that the same patterns
That fail you into sameness
Will somehow transform
Into a new outcome
Where you finally win this time
Love frees you from limiting beliefs
You learn that you did not fail
It’s just that you are only beginning
Understanding the same patterns
Are familiar but not kind
Learning a lesson that includes great pain
But grace is never far and never harsh
Helping you embrace the mystery of the new
Fear always enjoys a win
But winning is for competitions
Love is where there is only you
You are valued without compare.
You’ve got this!
