Dad, how do I?

Hey kids, it’s Wisdom Wednesday, and today’s wisdom comes from Saurin Kard. He says life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards. We can learn a lot from the past, but we just can’t live there.
If you’ve spent any time at all with me over the past few years, you know how important I believe forgiveness is to our mental health. Lewis S.M.E. said, “To forgive is to set a prisoner free, only to discover that the prisoner was you.” If we allow ourselves to think about it, it honestly seems a little strange and even, you know, almost a little silly how we often let the past, which we can’t do anything about, affect way too much of our present and future, which we do actually, at least, have a little bit of control over.
We all have limited time on this Earth. Don’t waste your time living in the past. As Will Rogers said, “Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.” I hope you have a great day, and God bless you.
