Reclaim My Time
Last week, I wrote about the slow creep of tiredness that had been lingering around me like a fog. I was dragging myself through the days, yawning when I shouldn’t be, and generally feeling a low-grade, unshakable fatigue. But this week, something shifted. I feel more alive, more energized, and more connected to myself.
So, what changed?
For one, I started paying closer attention to my body—what it needed and what I was giving it. I realized that even though I was going to the gym and staying active, I wasn’t fueling myself the right way. My diet was all over the place, leaning a little too heavily on convenience and comfort rather than nutrients and balance. So, I dialed it in—clean meals, more greens, lean proteins, and staying well hydrated.
Next, I became intentional about my sleep. I wasn’t just crashing into bed; I was winding down purposefully. No more phone right before bed, no more late-night scrolling, and I focused on quality rest, not just quantity. I committed to at least 7 hours of sleep and built a bedtime routine that included reading or journaling to help calm my mind. It’s amazing how much difference this alone has made. Waking up refreshed was a long-lost feeling I welcomed back.
Then, I doubled down on mindfulness—moving through the day with purpose. Instead of letting my tasks rush me, I consciously slowed down. I carved out time for myself in the mornings to set the tone for my day. And in the evenings, I reflected on what went well and what I could improve. That practice helped me release stress instead of letting it pile up.
I also cut down on unnecessary commitments. If something wasn’t serving my energy, I said no. Simple as that. Saying no gave me space to say yes to things that aligned with how I wanted to feel. It helped me reclaim my time, and more importantly, my mental and emotional space.
Now, I feel recharged—not in some miracle, overnight way—but through intentional, steady shifts. I realized that you don’t have to wait until you’re fully burnt out to start making changes. In fact, it’s better if you don’t.
This week, I’m back in the flow. Less tired. More centered. More energized.
If you’ve been feeling drained lately, maybe it’s time to check in with yourself. How’s your diet? Your sleep? Your stress levels? Are you taking on too much? The answers might be there, just waiting for you to notice.
Call your energy back. Make adjustments. And remember, your well-being is worth the time and effort.
Here’s to the shift.
