Anyone who has ever heard of Twin Flames has probably heard the phrase “inner union”.
People talk about it constantly.
For the longest time, I thought inner union was something I was supposed to achieve.
Something that would happen after enough healing.
The internet will always find one more piece of advice if you decide to ask.
There is always another coach.
Another expert.
Another stranger who somehow knows exactly how you should live your life.
And somehow, most of the advice leads to the same conclusion:
Just wait a little longer.
It will all happen eventually.
After enough surrender.
After enough waiting.
I thought inner union would arrive with another person.
Or maybe with success.
With recognition.
With the right opportunity.
I kept looking for proof that I had finally reached it.
Today, I was lying in the bathtub, looking at a series of images I had just created for my latest article.
Nothing extraordinary had happened.
No life-changing phone call.
No relationship had suddenly transformed.
Nobody had chosen me.
Nobody had paid me.
And yet…
I couldn’t stop smiling.
I had goosebumps.
I felt genuinely excited.
I kept looking at those images thinking,
“I made this.”
Not because I wanted other people to admire it.
Because I genuinely loved it.
For a moment, everything became incredibly quiet.
And that’s when I realized something.
Maybe inner union doesn’t begin when someone finally chooses you.
Maybe it doesn’t begin when you stop caring what other people think.
Or when you become a master of controlling your emotions.
Maybe it begins when you become so deeply in love with your own life that you finally start tasting it.
When even the smallest thing you create feels rich and delicious—like chocolate and strawberries—not because anyone else approves of it, but because it does something to you.
Maybe it doesn’t begin when you stop worrying about other people’s opinions.
Maybe it begins when your own life becomes so fascinating that you simply forget to wonder what anyone else is saying.
Maybe it begins when creating something you truly love becomes enough.
When the process itself feels rewarding.
When you’re no longer creating in exchange for validation.
When validation becomes unnecessary.
Because once your own reality feels deeply satisfying, you stop wondering what someone else’s reality tastes like.
You’re creating because creating already feels like living.
You’re simply sharing what already exists inside you.
And somehow…
that becomes beautiful.
For years, I thought opportunities meant jobs.
Money.
Recognition.
Publishing.
Being noticed.
Something tangible.
Something other people could measure.
I kept believing I was missing something outside of myself.
Today I realized I had been looking in the wrong direction.
The opportunity wasn’t another project.
The opportunity was finally finding the words for something I had already known deep inside.
Then two sentences appeared in my mind.
The first one changed everything.
That won’t exist in my reality because I simply don’t allow it.
And almost immediately, another sentence followed.
This exists in my reality because I choose to create it.
Suddenly, they felt inseparable.
One protects my reality.
The other builds it.
One is a boundary.
The other is an act of creation.
Maybe that’s what inner union has been all along.
Not reaching some mystical state.
Not becoming emotionally detached.
Not proving that you’ve healed.
But arriving at a place where your happiness no longer negotiates with external circumstances.
Where you’re genuinely in love with your own mind.
Your own ideas.
Your own work.
Your own life.
Where another person’s presence can add to your happiness…
But it is no longer responsible for creating it.
Maybe that’s what freedom actually feels like.
Not because life finally gave you everything you ever wanted.
But because somewhere along the way, you discovered that creating your own reality had become one of the greatest joys of being alive.
Because in the end, only you get to decide what your reality tastes like.
