A fun story gets told in ‘Hovergirls’
It can be nice reading graphic novels sometimes. No two stories are alike and they can take readers on some thrilling adventures. I will admit I didn’t know much about Hovergirls when I first heard about it, but thought it could be fun to read. I was able to get a digital copy of this graphic novel and here is my thoughts on it.
You can read the plot for Hovergirls here:
Jalissa and Kim Vasquez are cousins who move to the city of Los Aguaceros together. Kim dreams of becoming a famous model and fashion designer, while Jalissa is just trying to hold herself together after a breakdown the year before.
When a curious incident on the beach leaves them with supernatural powers and monsters start attacking the city, Kim decides that using their powers to stop them is the perfect way for them to become famous. But being heroes isn’t as easy as it seems–and Los Aquaceros is in more danger than they imagine.
This was a pretty good graphic novel. The story starts off a tad slow, but gets better after a weird looking creature tries to attack the city. These cousins end up getting new powers, and can use them to defeat this monster. When more of them start showing up, it looks like they might be the only ones to stop them. While this adventure moves along it turns out there is more going on here than it seems. When a powerful foe reveals themselves Jalissa must ask an unexpected ally for help before something terrible happens. Once this graphic novel came to a close it looked like life for these cousins was finally going to go back to normal.
Hovergirls is out now. You can order this graphic novel on Amazon, at Barnes and Noble and on Bookshop.
