Ways to Work It at Work – by Don Mathis
Don’t discuss politics or religion (unless you work at a campaign HQ or a church).
If someone asks you to do something, if you can’t say “Hell Yes,” say “Hell No.”
Sometimes it is better to let someone else take the credit for your good idea.
Ask for help when you don’t know how to do a job or the task is too large.
Every once in a while, buy a treat for your coworkers for no reason.
If you can’t say something nice about somebody, think again.
Offer compensation if your action caused someone a loss.
Listen more, talk less. And when I say listen, really listen.
You can live and let live, but you don’t have to join them.
Admit when you are wrong. Own your error. Apologize.
An apology will demonstrate regret and responsibility.
To be there for another is to have another there.
Pronounce the customer’s name correctly.
Choose your battles, the fewer the better.
Deal with disappointment like a diplomat.
Keep your head when others lose theirs.
If it’s in your job description, delegate.
Grudges are not productive, let it go.
Return calls as soon as possible.
Do not press ‘Send’ when angry.
Cut your coworkers some slack.
Remember your reputation.
Follow the factory manual.
Control your expectations.
Make the boss look good.
Look people in the eye.
Help ever, hurt never.
Express gratitude.
