Life can be a cycle.
A routine, whether in working for others or in working for ourselves.
We have customary times for getting up and going to sleep. We push to achieve a status in life reflected in where we reside, the vehicle we drive, the functions we are invited to, the achievement and acclamations we receive.
Yet during all of this, what are you truly living for?
Does more bring happiness?
…
We awake everyday to sustain a livelihood for ourselves and family members who depend on us.
Yet happiness doesn’t seem to be related to what we have.
So, the question is asked what are we living for?
Even the love relationships that we often so adore, can at times cause us pain. As it is only someone you love can hurt you.
There is one certainty in life, we are all going to die. Some of us before others, but it’s a reality we can’t escape and it’s the only thing we know for certain.
Considering this knowledge, how then should we live and what should we live for?
Some persons ignore this reality and live for accumulation of possessions, which in and of itself is something we should do to exist comfortably as far as possible.
However, in many cases persons ignore this reality awaiting us and pursue relentlessly looking for the next big high only to achieve and feel not as fulfilled as expected.
The pandemic as difficult as it was in presenting us with complicated grief, reminded us of the frailty of our existence and lead to some of us re-evaluating what truly matters in life.
A purposeless life is a sad existence as the chase from one high to a next high finally reveals that things only provide temporal satisfaction.
We all exist here for a purpose and finding the purpose is what makes life worth living. The purpose may change over time based on experiences; however, it provides a lasting happiness that is worth the search to discover it.
…
We don’t know when our last day will be, however, as we step more into our purpose, we discover that our existence consists not only in the accumulation of things but in doing whatever we are here for to leave that indelible mark.
If you can’t think of your purpose, consider this question — “What would you like to be remembered for ?”
The clue to your purpose is found in your answer.
So, step out and live, because the only guarantee we have is now, discover you and live in that knowledge.
