More than hello
I knew he was serious about me when I got that first message.
Good morning beautiful
I had just woken up and was still snuggled warmly in my bed. Seeing those words from this man put a bright smile on my face that cold morning.
The night prior, we had a long conversation getting to know each other. The call ended with him making plans to see me that weekend and expressing excitement about spending time together.
So the message that next morning was technically unnecessary. But it served a very important purpose.
It did more than just say hello.
It wasn’t about continuing the conversation from the day prior.
It wasn’t even a flirtation.
That good morning text told me that when he woke up, I was the first thing on his mind.
And when I wake up and I am greeted with a good morning text from a man, he does something very powerful.
He guarantees that I start my day thinking about him too.
…
What’s on your mind?
Start paying attention to what you are thinking about right as you wake up.
When we fall asleep, our minds are a chaotic mess with thoughts about work, to do items, unresolved drama, the end of the world, or the fun/stupid things we did that day.
But when we wake up, the thoughts that greet us are what matters most to us in importance, demand or desire.
I didn’t realize how much one boyfriend cared for me until he said that I was the first thing he thought about when he woke up and the last thing he thought of as he fell asleep each night.
When he said I was the most important thing in his world, he meant it.
And it showed because every day he was the first and last person I heard from.
He wanted to be the first person I heard from each morning and he wanted to know that I was home safe every night.
I loved that.
…
Be the first
If you are in pursuit of me, sending that good morning text is a way to let me know that I matter to you. It says that connecting with me each day is a priority — and that melts my little heart.
It gets my attention because it is a strong indicator of an intention to play a significant role in my life.
I have found that when a man wants to capture my heart, he steps into the role of acting like a boyfriend before he has the title.
Boyfriends send good morning messages.
A guy who is casually dating you doesn’t.
If a man has no intentions for you, you will see it in how much — and when — he wants to communicate with you.
A single girl may be talking to several different men at once, especially if she is online dating. All online relationships start by texting, so a morning message is a way to engage a girl before anyone else does that day.
Getting her attention and keeping her engaged is the key to blocking out other men.
To get her attention, sometimes you have to get there first.
…
Three seconds
It’s lovely to wake up seeing that someone has already been thinking about you. Or to get a message during your morning meetings wishing you a great day or good luck on your new project.
It can take 3 seconds to send a message that leaves a woman feeling more connected to you.
And ladies, you can do the same — although I recommend waiting until it’s clear that the feelings are mutual. A man who is still figuring out his feelings might feel a little “chased down” by this daily gesture, so I personally let the man lead in this area and then I will happily follow.
I want my man to feel loved and cared for as well, and once I am in a relationship, I delight in making sure he starts his day off feeling that he is the most important thing in my world too.
The best thing we can do is to start the day off by connecting with someone we adore.
If you are thinking about someone, let them know.
I promise they will wake up with a smile. ❤
