I spent most of my life waiting.
I was waiting for the perfect job to be happy. I was waiting for the perfect bank balance to travel. I was waiting for the perfect version of myself — someone who was smarter, thinner, and more productive — to finally start enjoying my life.
But last Tuesday, while staring at a half-finished cup of cold coffee, I realized a terrifying truth: The “Perfect Time” is a ghost. You can chase it forever, but you will never catch it.
The Trap of “Someday” Mentality
We all have a “Someday” list.
- Someday, I’ll start that blog.
- Someday, I’ll prioritize my mental health.
- Someday, I’ll stop caring what people think.
…
But “Someday” isn’t a day of the week. In a world that moves as fast as ours, waiting for perfection is just a polite way of staying stuck. We are so afraid of making a “messy” start that we choose to not start at all.
Embracing the “Under Construction” Phase
I’ve decided that my life is officially Under Construction, and I’m okay with that. I stopped trying to “Find Myself” and started “Building Myself” instead.
Building yourself means:
- Accepting the Mess: Your first attempt at anything will be bad. That’s not a failure; it’s a requirement.
- Finding Joy in Small Wins: We forget to celebrate the small things, like finally finishing a difficult chapter or just choosing rest over burnout.
- Walking at Your Own Pace: Just because someone else is running doesn’t mean you are late. You are exactly where you need to be.
…
The Power of Low-Stakes Living
I started practicing what I call a “Low-Stakes Life.” I stopped treating every day like a performance for an audience. I started writing because I love it, not just because I want it to go viral.
When you lower the stakes, the pressure disappears. And when the pressure disappears, the joy comes back.
Hope isn’t waiting for the storm to pass; it’s the quiet decision to dance while it’s still raining.
“Are you waiting for ‘Someday’ too? Let’s talk in the comments. 🌼”
