It’s 1955 and a white woman yells in a court room,
00:06
accuses 14-year-old Emmet Till of his own death.
00:09
And it’s 2017, and Carolyn Bryant now 82 years old
00:13
finally admits to lying about Emmet
00:15
like we didn’t already know.
00:17
To this day she has lived Emmet’s lifespan six times over,
00:21
says, “I’m sorry” and expects God to grant forgiveness.
00:25
Says I’m sorry, forget it is 2019, and false accusers,
00:28
descendants of your white lie
00:30
still blame black boys for crimes they didn’t commit.
00:33
Crimes fabricated by pressed white women says, “I panicked,” says, I’m sorry.”
00:38
Just last month Emmet’s memorial
00:40
was riddled with bullets by three white boys,
00:43
did your sorry shield the shot?
00:45
Can regret resurrect the lynched boy?
00:48
She says, “I’m sorry” but has not mentioned the black boy’s name.
00:51
Carolyn, I hope your withering bones creek his name, ‘Emmet’ till his memory
00:56
is ground into your marrow.
00:59
Till innocent murdered black boys everywhere
01:01
can finally rest in peace.
01:04
(audience) Wow! (applause and cheering)
